Frequently Asked Questions

Is Pregnancy Massage Suitable for Me?

Pregnancy massage can be performed from the second trimester onwards (after the first three months of pregnancy). For most pregnant women, massage is perfectly safe. However there are a few medical conditions, which would make massage inadvisable or when medical advice should be sought before treatment is given. The therapist, who originally practised as a midwife, will be happy to advise you regarding this - telephone Lesley Dawson – 07902904003 or email lesley@perfectly-massage.co.uk

What Does a Pregnancy Massage Treatment Involve?

Your initial massage session will include a consultation regarding your medical history. This will allow the therapist to plan with you, a treatment session that will best meet your needs, so that you get the most out of your treatment. Pregnancy massage is deeply relaxing and calming and uses many massage techniques adapted from Swedish massage. It is performed in a side-lying position, (which is the most suitable and comfortable position for both you and your baby) with pillows to support you and cosy blankets add to your comfort. A treatment session usually includes massage of the back, neck, shoulders, legs and feet and may also include arms and hands. The massage is always tailored to meet your individual requirements.
